May 11th-17 was "Awareness Week Food Allergy." That's when the public is supposed to become educated about food allergies and concerns about them. I do not know about you, but I see nothing to say about "food allergies" anywhere in the papers this year or on television.
Here are some alarming statistics on food allergies:
– Each week, 2 to 3 Americans will suddenly lose their lives due to food allergies.
– Approximately 6 to 8 per cent of children under 4 years have a food allergy.
– About 4 percent of people age 5 and older have a food allergy.
– While avoiding one is allergic to food, about 25% of those with allergies will have another allergic attack at least once a year.
– Many babies are allergic to milk and eggs will exceed food allergies in recent years, but some of these children will develop allergies to peanuts.
According to NIAD (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease), "Allergic reactions to food occur when the immune system overreacts to food proteins, triggering a cascade of events that can range from itching the hives to difficulty breathing, circulatory and vascular systems approach, life-threatening allergic reaction called anaphylaxis …. And about 30,000 cases of food aid, induced anaphylaxis occur in the United States each year, leading to a maximum of 200 people. "
If you are a parent and a child who has a food allergy, it can be very scary when they are in school because many teachers and employees of the cafeteria are not informed of a serious food allergy can bring.
Searching for Another method for allergies could be a solution because there is no cure for food allergies yet. Your doctor may give you an EpiPen or Twinject is good if you need emergency treatment. If you do not know what it is, talk to your doctor.
There some alternative treatments that have helped some of their food allergies. Here is a tea that could be helpful for food allergies in the long term. You should be able to obtain these ingredients at your local health store.
Allergy Tea
– 2 cups water
– ½ teaspoon each marshmallow root
– 1 teaspoon peppermint leaves
– ¼ teaspoon ginger rhizome
Mix water and marshmallow root in a saucepan and simmer 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and add remaining ingredients. Steep for 15 minutes, then drain the herbs. For a child of 50 pounds, give 1 to 2 cups per day.; For children 50 pounds, drink ½ to 1 dropper (3060 drops) per day.
